Sony announced that the PlayStation VR2 will allow players to access PC games via an adapter starting August 7. The adapter will cost $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 and requires a compatible DisplayPort cable, a Steam account, and a PC meeting specific requirements.

Setup is easy: simply connect PlayStation VR2 to your PC using the PS VR2 PC adapter and the DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Then, download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam.

There is no compatibility between PlayStation®VR and PS VR2: PS VR systems can't play PS VR2 games. PS VR2 systems can't play PS VR content.

Thankfully, most PSVR 2 games can be played sitting down. However, these games don't support the more sedentary VR play style, so you'll have to get on your feet and make some space if you want to play them.

It looks like Sony's PlayStation VR2 is not living up to the company's sales expectations just over a year after it first hit the market. Bloomberg reports that the PlayStation-maker has stopped producing new PSVR2 units as it tries to clear out a growing backlog of unsold inventory.

To connect PSVR to PC, you'll need your headset, a USB 3.0 cable, and an HDMI cable. You'll need to connect your headset directly to your PC. If you don't have an open HDMI connection, you can pick up an HDMI-to-DisplayPort cable or adapter and use that without issue.

Sony's releasing a PSVR 2 app for PCs that will run alongside SteamVR to connect the headset. Sony lists the PC compatibility specs for PSVR 2 on its blog post, which includes DisplayPort 1.4, 8GB or more of RAM, and a recommendation of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 (or later) or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT (or later) graphics.
